I’m not sure of the statistics but I feel certain that perhaps with the exception of Valentine’s Day, Christmas is one of the most popular occasions for men to feel it appropriate to give the gift of lingerie to their partners.
Things have come on a long way from the days when you’d see red-faced men furtively browsing the lingerie section in department stores, intent on taking home something racy but when confronted by an assistant offering help in choosing something they’d leave with something more suited to their Great Aunt Maude.
The arrival of Agent Provocateur in 1994 changed all that. Suddenly men and women had a place to shop discreetly for beautiful, feminine lingerie that women would delight in wearing. The chain now has over 30 stores in 13 countries as well as their website which lives up to its claim to be the sexiest lingerie website in the world. Quite simply, Agent Provocateur sells some of the most luxurious lingerie and decadent sleepwear imaginable which is sure to please the recipient and put you in the good books.
Their timeless Classic Collection ensures women can be sexy and professional as the mood takes them. These are stunning pieces that never go out of fashion and make perfect gifts. Some items you might want to consider are The Love Bra, The Fifi Bra or The Shazam Bra
If you’re looking for that racier item then fear not, Agent Provocateur has a wide selection of garments that are most certainly not for the faint hearted but are the ultimate choice for a night of pure seduction in the boudoir! Things you’ll definitely want to consider are The Nadia Basque, The Cendrillon Playsuit and The Marylin Bra
This week Agent Provocateur launched their Christmas Guide which as well as including some of the items I’ve already mentioned has some stunning items, like The Kiki Kimono which certainly beats a dressing gown from BHS!
They have also produced a handy buying guide for men because after all, you can never have too much information and if you get really, really stuck why not direct your loved one to Agent Provocateur’s wishlist facility? That way even though she’ll have an idea what she’ll be getting, you’ll know it’s something she wants and it certainly beats unwrapping a gift voucher! That said, with a gift voucher you may strike lucky and get invited to go shopping with her!
All purchases from Agent Provocateur come beautifully packed in luxurious pink boxes wrapped with silky black ribbon at no extra cost and they offer a no quibble money back guarantee, just in case!

The Christmas countdown has begun and panic has already struck a number of people I know so I can only imagine how many people reading are facing that age old dilemma of what to buy the loved one or friend who has everything. There was a time when giving someone a gift voucher was the dull option but I’m inclined to think an Aqua Sheko voucher from London’s first ever fish therapy concept spa is an altogether different gift that is both unique, novel and bound to be appreciated.
Fish therapy is a unique beauty treatment using Garra Rufa fish, a form of carp. Clients submerge their feet into a tank of finned therapists for an exotic exfoliation by a team of tiny mouths. The fish have no teeth and use a sucking motion to painlessly nibble away the dead skin without damaging the healthy cells underneath, leaving you with a pleasant tingling sensation similar to a light massage.
It is believed that Garra Rufa fish secrete an enzyme, diathanol, which improves skin regeneration. The treatment is finished off with a relaxing massage leaving the recipient with feet soft, smooth and renewed.
There are a 4 gift voucher packages available so you can ensure the perfect pairing:
- The Aqua Sheko Energiser (25 mins: fish therapy and choice of foot or head and shoulder massage) £30
- The Aqua Sheko Deluxe (50 mins: fish therapy with hand and arm massage and choice of foot or head and shoulder massage) £45
- The Aqua Sheko Reviver (60 mins: fish therapy with foot, arm, shoulder and hand massage) £65
- The Aqua Sheko Double Indulgence (Reviver package for two) £115
With so many options, these vouchers are for everyone – mums, dads, colleagues and friends. Ordering is fast and easy, simply visit www.aquasheko.co.uk or call 020 3489 8336 to make your booking.

Reading about the radio that Mr Black bought his mother for her birthday reminded me that it will soon be Mothering Sunday. I’ve never quite understood why the date varies from country to country and once recall telephoning my Mother from Australia in May to wish her the joys of that day only for her to inform me that it had passed a few months earlier. If she had jetted out to Australasia she could have enjoyed two days of burnt toast and scrambled eggs, as it was she managed to escape with having none at all!
As ever, trying to find something suitable for Mother’s Day is always a trial but thankfully those clever people at John Lewis have some super ideas to suit every budget and so it is one visit to their website was enough to furnish me with ideas a-plenty and saved me searching anywhere else. Call me old-fashioned but I just like shopping at John Lewis.
I particularly liked this Pink Mug & Hot Chocolate Gift Set which is a steal at only £8 which one can surely find either in ones piggy bank or down the side of the sofa.
If your budget is a little higher but not quite at banker bonus levels you could always consider this beautiful crocodile effect leather jewellery box. It has lots of little compartments to help keep her earrings away from the necklaces and is of course lockable. Priced at only £75 the Violet Croc Jewellery Box will show your mother that you’ve thought about her.
One thing that caught my eye and which would certainly be a talking point in any household was a black Fiord Handkerchief Vase. It almost makes sense that it should be black as what better way to show off the bright colours of any bouquet? Perhaps not to everyone’s taste but I’m certainly considering it. Of course there is no point buying a vase with nothing to put in it but fear not, John Lewis have a beautiful selection of Mother’s Day flowers to choose from.
In fact John Lewis have hundreds of Mother’s Day gifts and presents to choose from. They really are a one-stop shop so be sure to visit for some inspiration for your Mother and let her know you care. Especially if you think you might be needing a baby sitter any time soon
