Game of Thrones Season 3 Blu-Ray

For those of you that don’t know ( you must have been living under a rock ) Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels, the first of which is titled A Game of Thrones.
The HBO TV series is just about to start its fourth season and last week I was invited to a screening of the newly released third season blu ray where we were treated to a making of documentary of the Red Wedding ( a key scene from the third season).

I have always been impressed with the production quality of Game of Thrones and sometimes very graphic and controversial scenes the producers aren’t frightened to tackle but after watching this behind the scenes documentary seeing the detail gone into things and hearing how the actors prepared for the challenges faced Im even more impressed in fact Ive just ordered the Blu ray to be able to watch it all over again!
As you may know not all Blu Rays are exactly packed with extras but if you are a Game of Thrones fan or new to the show and want to catch up before season four I can highly recommend you go out and buy the blu ray set, not only does it look stunning on screen you will be entertained for hours with all the fantastic extras included in the sets.

Available now from Amazon with an exclusive bonus disc of even more features from the link below

If you are looking for something a bit different to take your partner to this Valentine’s day then how about the new film written and directed by Terence Nance?
An Oversimplification of Her Beauty 2012
The film focuses in as a artist hypothesizes about why he feels bad when a mystery girl stands him up. The event prompts him to ask: what’s the content of a momentary feeling? Is it the sum of your experiences? And, perhaps more importantly, are your experiences the sum of you?
I wont say anymore than that as its one of those films that’s both hard to explain but in a way it would also spoil it to do so too much, but I think it’s a perfect film for Valentines Day that explores relationships and what they mean to each of us.
The film is out now in selected UK cinemas through Picturehouse cinemas.

Picturehouse is the leading independent cinema chain in the UK and will also be supporting the film through their ‘Discover Tuesdays’ programming. All participating cinemas will be screening An Oversimplification Of Her Beauty on Tuesday 11th February.
To find out details of where the film is showing and book tickets go to:
Picturehouse have kindly offered a signed script from the film by director Terence Nance, for a chance of winning just email us at and also make sure you are a subscriber to the site.
A winner will be picked at random on the 14th Feb 2014

The Vikings Are Coming!

Last week I was invited to the launch of the Season one DVD/Blu Ray of the History Channel funded series Vikings. Having not really heard much about the show I was intrigued but didn’t really know what to expect from the show, The Vikings are often portrayed in a less than favorable light and while this series doesn’t paint them as teddy bears it’s certainly a more interesting human side that is show from their usual film portrayal.

As Creator Michael Hirst explained at the launch he tried to be as factual as possible and steer away from the stereotype we often associate with Vikings of the horned helmets etc and it really works out quite well, I’ve only seen the first two episodes so far but I’m already hooked !

The First two episodes focus on Ragnar Lothbro and his desire to explore beyond the boundaries set by his village leader (played by the fantastic Gabriel Byrne) and what happens when he does, to say much more would be giving things away which I hate to do so I will leave it for you to enjoy yourselves.

Vikings is available to stream exclusively with Love Film in the UK, airs on the History Channel in the US and the first season is now out on DVD and Blu-Ray
